Pre-cast building which had failing and separating caulk joints at all the pre-cast panels throughout the building.
Maintaining the sealants on pre-cast buildings is important as the façade is kept water tight through and exterior caulk joint between each panel. Other benefits from properly performing sealants include minimizing air loss, no leaking and keeping bugs/critters out of the building. The caulk should be routinely reviewed for separations and typically need replaced every 5-8 years. Keeping the buildings on a routine maintenance program that involves a sealant inspection, concrete panel review and painting is imperative in preserving the exterior façade.
The crews from Weathershield removed all the existing caulk from each panel joint, replaced the backer rod and re-caulked the joints with two-part urethane sealant. In addition, the team re-caulked all the window perimeters and re-glazed the windows to stop any active leaks at the office locations.
