There are many variables in the process of restoring and protecting a parking garage deck. Our Weathershield teams are experts.
Challenges:
-
- Spalling concrete and degraded sealants
- Short time frame of 3 weeks
- Making sure the 5-year renewable manufacturer’s warranty was achieved with proper installation
Background:
255 Liberty street, Wheaton, IL 255 Liberty is a 50+ numbered parking space garage that was in desperate need of restoration.
Solutions:
Weathershield was brought in to repair this degraded parking garage with waterproof concrete membranes. Our team was commissioned not only to repair the garage floor concrete but to ensure it will maintain its integrity by adding a urethane membrane.
Results:
After removing the existing urethane coating the garage deck was shot blasted to create the proper profile for the new coating to adhere. Our crews patched the spalling concrete, replaced all of the sealants and applied the three coat vehicular deck coatings in sections. Aggregate was applied on the immediate coat to create a heavy finish texture. The entire project took 3 weeks and we achieved the manufacturers required installation techniques for their 5-year renewable warranty.
