Parking garage decks are exposed to the harshest elements including chemicals, vehicular traffic, and constant moisture from rain, snow and ice. Unprotected concrete will deteriorate and lead to costly repairs.
The team was tasked with removing 15,000 SF of failing urethane coating and installing 36,000 square feet of a new vehicular grade deck coating to an exterior parking garage.
After removing the existing urethane coating the garage deck was shot blasted to create the proper profile in the concrete for the coating to adhere.
The crews patched all the spalling concrete, replaced all the sealants and applied the four coat vehicular deck coatings in sections. The sand was applied to refusal on the intermediate coat to create a heavy finished texture at the request of the hotel.
The entire project took approximately 3 weeks and the 5-year renewable manufacturer’s warranty was achieved.
