N7W23700 Bluemound-Caulk
Routine maintenance of the buildings sealants is imperative to the overall health and performance of a building. That is even more important on larger precast/ tilt up buildings. Our technicians were brought on board to remove and replace sealant on all 176 of the buildings control joints.
Challenges:
- Degraded sealants
- Failing and separated caulk joints at all pre-cast panels
- Active window leaks
Background:
Bluemound Corporate Park, Waukesha Wisconsin. This 100,000 square foot pre-cast industrial building has multiple dock doors, drive in bays and windows throughout the structure.
Solutions:
Weathershield was brought in for routine maintenance of the building’s sealants. This is integral to the health of large precast/tilt up buildings. Our technicians removed and replaced sealant on all 176 of the building’s control joints to keep the building watertight. This minimizes air loss and insect and rodent issues.
Results:
Our crews removed all the existing caulk from each panel joint, replaced the backer rod and re-caulked the joints with two-part urethane sealant. In addition, the team re-caulked all the window perimeters and re-glazed the windows to stop any active leaks at the o ce locations.
